The Madison Drum & Bugle Corps Association, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has extended its contract with Executive Director Chris Komnick through the end of the 2017 season.
“We couldn’t be happier with the job that Chris has done as Executive Director of the Madison Scouts,” states Board President Jeff Manion, “and we couldn’t be more excited about the future of the corps with Chris at the helm.”
Komnick assumed the role of Executive Director in the fall of 2008 after previously serving on the Scouts’ board of directors. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Drum Corps International Board of Directors.
Komnick is an alumnus of the Scouts, where he marched mellophone in 1984, 1985 and in the 2006 Alumni Reunion Project. Komnick holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree in business administration from Miami University.
“It’s highly unusual to find someone with Chris’s skill set,” explains Board Vice President Gregg Auby. “He combines strong business acumen with a passion for the activity. We’re very pleased that he has agreed to continue as Executive Director for the foreseeable future.”
Before taking the role of Executive Director, Chris was a serial entrepreneur with a primary focus on technology start-ups. He was responsible for developing product and branding strategies and has over 20 years of experience working with various organizations, from start-ups to public companies.
“Managerial stability is a key component of organizational success,” notes Board Treasurer Gary Bakker “and the drum corps activity is no exception. Chris brings the stability that we believe is essential to the continued success of the Madison Scouts.” Added Manion, “The future is very bright for the organization.”
