A native of California, Mr. Steward carries with him a very coveted history both as a music educator and respected professional trumpet player. Prior to his professional career, he performed as a soloist for two nationally recognized competitive drum and bugle corps: the Freelancers of Sacramento, California, and Blue Devils of Concord, California. Eventually, Scott found himself at California State University, Sacramento, as lead trumpet in the A Jazz Ensemble and principal trumpet for the CSUS Wind Ensemble, which gave him many opportunities to play in front of some of the music industry’s finest guest conductors and recording artists. This exposure soon lead him to eventually perform side man with artists such as The Drifters, Jack Sheldon, Jimmy Smith, Stan Mark, Joe Gilman, Bill Watrous, Louie Bellson, The Buddy Collette Quintet, Milt Burnheart, Buddy Childers, and Morgan Britney.
Other credits include playing in Disneyland's Magic Kingdom Korps, nine months in the Tony and Emmy award winning show BLAST!, and three years with the Paul Cacia Jazz Orchestra. Now, as a resident of Tennessee, Mr. Steward holds the position of lead trumpet with one of Nashville's best known bands, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra, which placed 3rd on the FOX TV reality series - The Next Great American Band (produced by FOX TV’s American Idol). Scott has also performed and recorded with three recent American Idol finalists – Mandisa, Melinda Doolittle, and Phil Stacey.
Today, Scott is proud to hold a position as brass coodinator and Jazz Band Director for the Franklin High School Band.
