Nancy’s drum corps career began in the fall of 1984 with Star of Indiana where she performed in the front ensemble until aging out in 1989. In 1989 she won the Drum Corps Midwest I&E Keyboard Championship.

She is originally from Bloomington, IN and attended Indiana University School of Music  majoring in percussion and jazz studies.

She has worked in the restaurant industry for over twenty years and was a business manager at a fine dining Indianapolis restaurant from 2000 to 2007.

Nancy performed in the 2004 Star of Indiana Alumni Corps and has served as their treasurer since 2004 and president since 2006.  She has been the operations manager and lead percussionist for Star United from 2006 to 2008.

Nancy lives in Indianapolis with her husband, Scooter Pirtle and their four cats, Eliza, Charlie, Buster and Danny.
