Jay is currently completing his doctoral work in Tuba Performance at the University of Alabama. As a graduate student at UA, Jay worked four years with the Million Dollar Band as an instructor. During his career at the University of Alabama, Jay served as the principal tuba for the Alabama Wind Ensemble and the Huxford Symphony. Jay is also a founding member of the Alabama Tuba Quartet, which in the summer of 2008 won the prestigious ITEC Tuba Quartet Competition.
Jay earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Western Kentucky University. While at WKU, he earned distinction in the brass department and served as a Drum Major for the Big Red Marching Band. Jay earned his master’s degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Alabama.
Jay is an alumnus of Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps, having marched with the corps for two years (1999 and 2001). Currently, Jay is working as a private instructor in the Houston, TX area.
