Brian's drum corps experience began in 1998 at Lone Star Drum & Bugle Corps. He then became a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard, where he marched for 5 years, while receiving instruction from Ralph Hardimon, Glen Crosby, Jim Casella, Murray Gusseck, Jim Ancona and Dave Reeves. After aging out of Santa Clara, Brian taught on the SCV percussion staff in 2005. He then continued his drum corps instruction at The Cavaliers from 2006-2009.
In addition to Brian's drum corps teaching background, he has also taught, written and consulted for several high school bands in Texas and the Greater Houston area. Some of the groups include such nationally recognized organizations as The Woodlands HS and Churchill HS, both who are BOA Grand National Finalists. Perez has taught and co-arranged for Clear Brook (2005 WGI Open Class Champions) and Churchill HS (2008 WGI Finalist), both working with Chris Retschulte. Brian has also been a contributor to Green Beats, and several of his compositions and arrangements can be found on TapSpace Publications.
Brian is currently living in The Woodlands, TX with his wife, Joni, and is an assistant Band Director at Aldine High School.
