Your dues will cover your housing for winter camps, everyday rehearsals and the entire summer tour. Additionally, dues cover food anytime you are housed with the corps. Dues also cover the education you will receive from our world-class staff. You will gain knowledge of your specific equipment, a performance mentality and invaluable life skills. The experience of marching with the Madison Scouts will change the rest of your life; it is truly priceless.
What financial opportunities exist to help me raise money?
First of all, if you have this question you are not alone. We recognize the financial challenge of marching drum corps and make every effort to help you overcome it. Members participate in two fundraisers and receive information about how to obtain business sponsorships. As a guard member you will also benefit from a new fellowship program fueled by Madison Scouts color guard alumni.
Once you are offered a spot in the guard, we will immediately get you started on the two member-driven fundraisers. The first is the Fuel-A-Thon. You provide a list of twenty names of family, friends, neighbors or faculty and we do the rest. People from your list send donations which are applied to your dues and the corps transportation budget – it’s a win-win! The second is our 2008 raffle. You’ll sell tickets for a drawing from which people can win some fantastic prizes including a plasma TV and a trip for two to Disney World or Vegas!
All our members receive access to informational content regarding business sponsorships. You’ll learn what types of businesses are likely to help you with your dues and have access to sample letters. Many members have found great success from business sponsorships in their area; some have paid off the entirety of their dues!
Our newest program is the Color Guard Fellowship which connects the alumni with the current members. They will raise enough money to reduce the dues of each of the forty guard members by $300! Additional money raised will be used to create individual guard scholarships which will be distributed according to financial need.
Who is on staff?
The 2008 guard staff is an impressive group of some of the most experienced and established names in the world of color guard. You will experience the highest level of programming, technique and innovation as you continue to develop your performance skills.
