Dave Heilman has been a member of the Madison Scouts board of directors since 2005.  Over the past 35 years, he has been involved in the drum and bugle corps activity as a percussion instructor and corps director (’81-’82 CapitolAires).

Heilman recently retired after a 30-year career as a band director.  He remains active as a clinician, program coordinator, visual designer and adjudicator.  Additionally, he is the treasurer for the Wisconsin Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and is also the current and founding director of the Wisconsin State High School Marching Band Championships.

Heilman earned his a music education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Dave remains active as a performer with three Madison-area big bands, All That Jazz, American Jazz Express and Hot Cross Bones and is an avid golfer.  He and his wife reside in Verona, WI.
