The Business of Drum Corps
The Madison Drum and Bugle Corps Association, Inc., (MDBCA) is a “not for profit” 501(c)(3) corporation whose primary objective is to provide a program for youth in music and performance training through a positive environment that emphasizes character and social development, leadership, self-discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.
The board of directors are elected and serve in a volunteer capacity in order to assure the governance and continued viability of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle corps. Great care is being taken to assure the board has a wide array of business, legal and financial experiences in order to best serve the interests of the organization.
Board meetings are open to the public and all meeting minutes are available upon request. The board members are available to discuss matters of the organization and welcome any inquiries you may have.
The primary responsibility of the board is financial governance. In addition, the board hires an executive director, approves a budget and monitors the strategic progress of the organization.
The 2008 board is pursuing a focused initiative to build the financial reserves and resources of the organization in order to secure and expand upon its mission. One primary activity is that of the Explorer Fund, and you can expect additional information as that program develops.
