“I’m very thankful for my time with the Madison Scouts. This organization has enhanced my musicianship skills as well as my confidence and ability to be a better man for the world. It is always a thrill to see how the people around you grow over the summer, and I can’t wait to see where this season takes us as a drum corps and a brotherhood.”
Mikal Webb (21), of Montgomery, AL, is marching his third and final season with the Madison Scouts. He marched in 2015-16 as a member of the tuba section, and served as a co-section leader in 2016. Prior to joining the Scouts, he completed two seasons as a drum major at Saint James School. Mikal is currently a senior at Huntingdon College where he studies Mathematics. Beyond the Scouts, he plays saxophone at local events with his sister, a singer-songwriter, and his church. After graduating, Mikal plans to get his Masters in Mathematics or Space Science.
“This is going to be a great summer. The intentional thought that is going in to each piece of this corps from the members to the staff is going to make this season one for the books.”
Daniel Modl (17), of Chippewa Falls, WI, is marching his first season with the Madison Scouts. He is currently a senior at Chippewa Falls Senior High School where he has served as a drum major for the Chippewa Falls Marching Cardinals. Daniel also participates in his school’s top concert and jazz ensembles as a saxophonist, pianist, and student conductor. Daniel plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the fall to study music education and saxophone under Dr. Michael Shults, with whom he currently studies.
“I’m very honored and excited to be selected as one of the drum majors for the Madison Scouts for their 2018 season. I cannot wait to start working with such a highly talented and gifted group of young men. This will provide me with excellent knowledge and understanding of music and the marching arts I will hopefully share with my students as a future music educator.”
The Madison Scouts will begin the 2018 DCI season in Whitewater, WI on Saturday, June 23rd. A complete listing of all tour dates can be found at www.dci.org
